You will notice that Karim’s jewelry is sold by piece, because this is haute jewelry and just like haute couture and haute cuisine, it is art!
The jewelry that Karim designs, commissions or selects for his customers is never a mass-produced product, but instead each is a piece of haute artwork created by skilled artisans and artists who took years to learn their craft, understand the limits of the materials they use, and hone their inner artistic vision.
Karim jewelry is not machined or laser etched, but instead hand-carved. Each piece uses available natural stones, not dyed or color enhanced stones and the gemstones are hand-cut, hand polished, hand matched and then handset, not glued or pressure-pressed into their settings.
The enamellings, the hand-blown beads, and the cloisonné work are all intricate art forms taking years to master.
The beading stringing and knotting is done by hand with painstaking care, one stone at a time and is itself a distinct art form. And, if your piece has a tassel, that too is hand-braided!
The pieces Karim chooses to showcase are considered to be limited edition or collectible as each piece is designed to be a valued future heirloom.
Gemstones and metals are still a world-wide traded commodity; prices of materials are subject to change and fluctuations. Due to the uncertainty of availability of natural stone lots, precious metal and stone prices, jewelry process materials, and even artists or artisans, it is near to impossible to reproduce the exact piece of jewelry as each piece’s creation is simply too unique.
Some pieces will become one-of-a-kind for many reasons: the mines where the gemstones come from are exhausted or closed; the skills of the craftsmen have been lost; or it is simply not profitable to reproduce the workmanship for mining the stones.
Though we try our best to showcase Karim’s jewelry pieces in their true form, we are more than happy to send extra images or videos of any piece(s) you are interested in. Whether you want to see it being worn, or to get an idea of size or color, we do understand that the process of ordering fine jewelry online can be quite stressful but we’re here to make it as smooth and easy for you as possible.
Just as much as we wouldn’t appreciate our copyrighted designs to be replicated by other jewelers, Karim is not able to replicate another design as it is always best made by whoever created it originally.
